Thermoplastic Insulation Coating

The use of Insulation Coating comes in different forms. They are used for different purposes. The purpose is determined by the type of usage.

Thermoplastic Insulation Coating has a wide range of application: they can actually lower temperatures in both directions. These are the two main uses of thermoplastic insulation coating systems. The two main features of Thermoplastic Insulation Coating are that they: – Can be almost any color, – Work on several methods of thermal dynamics, such as convection, conduction, absorption, and radiation, -Can be applied to metal and non-metal surfaces alike -Can be applied in thin layers and layered, according to customer requirements -Can be applied to fabrics, as well as garments -Can be painted or self-sealing depending on the customers’ needs and budget. Some other common features of Thermoplastic Insulation Coating are: -Can be almost any color -Can work with most types of thermal conductors -Can be self-sealing or painted depending on customer’s needs -Can work on metal and non-metal surfaces alike -Can be painted or self-sealing depending on the customers’ needs -Can be combined with plastic or fiberglass fibers -Can be used to create a vacuum insulating layer -Can be made in bulk and used in conjunction with heat shrink wrap or fiberboard insulation -Can be used to increase dimensional stability -Can be easily cut and shaped as required -Can be used in conjunction with other materials, such as, foam, or drywall -Can be powder coated or “sprayed” with an epoxy or paint -Can be cut into sheets as needed or be mounted as needed. The uses of Thermoplastic Insulation Coating extend far beyond its ability to decrease air infiltration into buildings.

Thermoplastic Insulation Coating can be applied to any non metallic surface and works on metals as well. Some of the uses of Thermoplastic Insulation Coating in commercial buildings and industrial sites are shown below. These applications include pipe fittings, pipe lines, pipe seals, thermal insulation panels (also called drywall), water pipes (to install underfloor heating and/or refrigeration), gas pipelines, pipe covers (on underground construction), and ductwork (applying a thermal insulation coating directly to ductwork).

Thermoplastic coatings have many advantages over traditional metal or steel sheet metal applications. For one they are much easier to apply. Once applied the coating can be maintained or replaced as needed depending on the environment (e.g. cold and hot weather, humidity, dust, etc. ).

A unique aspect of Thermoplastic Insulation Coatings is that it can be used in place of many other types of insulated barrier, such as thermal bridging, air sealing, and vapor barrier. Thermoplastic Insulation Coating has several unique features that makes it different from conventional metallic barrier systems. One such unique feature is its ability to maintain its integrity even at elevated temperatures. Another unique characteristic is its capability to reduce or eliminate thermal bridging at low temperatures. Finally, this Insulation coating system has been found to be beneficial in decreasing the internal friction between two insulated surfaces thereby reducing the transmission of sound (resonance) through the material.

The unique properties inherent in Thermoplastic Insulation Coating make it a cost effective choice over traditional insulation like foil, fiberglass, cellulose, or rubber. It also is found to be better than standard composites (e.g., composites consisting of aluminum or steel) in providing insulating properties that are nearly free of bulk flow. In addition it is also very flexible, which allows it to be manufactured in differing thicknesses to match thermal or moisture resistance requirements. As an added benefit, because the ceramic material is thermoplastic, it also is not susceptible to the growth of mildew or any other type of fungus.
